Directions for Walk-Up Testing
Covid Testing Near Me is offered through Golden State Urology (GSU) in multiple walk-up locations in the Bay Area, Sacramento County, and San Joaquin County in California.
All reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests for SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19) are completed through the GSU Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA)-certified pathology lab. The RT-PCR rapid test is FDA EUA-approved. Dr. Prithipal Sethi is the Founder and Medical Director of GSU.
QUICK FACTS ABOUT THE RT-PCR RAPID TEST
GSU offers the RT-PCR test required for most travel. Please check your travel requirements with the airline and destination before booking your RT-PCR test with GSU. We currently do not offer testing for the state of Hawaii (more information below in the travel FAQs).
We do our best to answer phone inquiries, however, all information on this website is updated daily by GSU. Please read our travel booking guidelines below.
Yes, we currently only offer the RT-PCR Covid-19 test. This test complies with most travel.
Will my results report state that this is the RT-PCR test?
Yes, our patient lab PDF results specifically state that the test performed is the RT-PCR, COVID-19 test (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test. Please download and print individual results for travel requirements and purposes.
How do I book my RT-PCR test for travel?
Prior to booking a RT-PCR Covid-19 test for travel with GSU, please carefully review your destination and airline testing requirements. We are not responsible for screening or planning RT-PCR Covid-19 testing appointments within your travel dates, times and requirements by airlines and destinations.
When will my results be ready for RT-PCR testing if I’m traveling?
We accommodate and guarantee next-day results for our RT-PCR testing for travel. Please expect your notification for results delivered via text message. All test results are completed by 5pm the following day after collecting your sample.
Please refer to the booking section to view all current dates, times, rates and locations for same or next day results. Please make sure you are booking your RT-PCR test within your required travel timeframe so your results are delivered accordingly.
Please book your appointment keeping the results timeframe in mind.
How do I choose my RT-PCR testing appointment for travel?
All appointment times above are updated daily, and we carefully accommodate same day and next day results (same day testing is only offered in our Stockton and Sacramento locations). Check rates and times for same-day and next-day testing in the appointment portal above.
For Example: If your airline and destination requires a 48-hour (2 days) window for booking and results, please choose an appointment for testing within the 2 days before your departure date. We do not recommend same day testing for travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
Do you test for travel to Hawaii?
No, we are not a travel testing partner for Hawaii travelers. Please proceed to this link for Hawaii-specific testing clinics and requirements: https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel-partners/
How will I receive my results for my RT-PCR test?
GSU offers test results with an official Golden State Urology (GSU) letterhead in an electronic PDF format. You will receive a text message stating your RT-PCR results are ready. You will use your GSU login (patient ID number and personal contact information) to access the results in your patient portal. Please print your results prior to boarding your flight.
If you are unable to keep your Covid-19 RT-PCR appointment, please adjust your appointment or call us to let us know at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Appointments booked same day/within the 24 hours are still subject to our cancellation policy. 24 hour or less cancellations are a 50% charge, no shows are a 100% charge.
Important for travel:
How do I book a RT-PCR Covid-19 test?
We are online booking only. Here’s why:
1.) This ensures a guaranteed appointment time and date for both the patient and the clinic staff.
2.) This creates a secure electronic patient portal which you may use to access your appointment details, test progress and most importantly, your secure test results in PDF format.
How is my sample for testing collected?
We recommend a self-swab, to remain contactless, however, if you would like some assistance, one of our staff is able to help. We use a swab to carefully collect nasal secretions, in a painless manner.
1.) Insert the provided swab into each nostril, one at a time, approximately 1 inch into the nasal passage (midway).
2.) Rotate the swab 3-4 times, remove gently, and repeat this process on the other side.
When will my RT-PCR Covid-19 test results be ready?
1.) We guarantee next-day results for our RT-PCR Covid-19 tests post-specimen collection.
2.) Please expect results by end of day (5-6pm) the next day.
3.)You will be notified via text message to the cell phone registered under your patient account that your PDF test results are ready. Please use your patient login to check the status of tests as we receive a high volume of phone calls.
How do I access my test results?
When your results are ready, you will be notified through text message. This text message will prompt you to login into your patient login (which you must create to view your test progress and test results).
Follow the link to this website in the text to login and see your results, which will be delivered in a PDF formate for you to download/print for your records.
What if I miss my appointment or need to cancel?
If you are unable to keep your Covid-19 RT-PCR appointment, please adjust your appointment or call us to let us know at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Appointments booked same day/within the 24 hours are still subject to our cancellation policy. 24 hour or less cancellations are a 50% charge, no shows are a 100% charge.
Do I need a referral from a medical professional?
No, do not need a referral from a medical professional to be tested for Covid-19 with us.

You will be issued a receipt/invoice for your scheduled test after your online payment is received. Please check your email’s spam folder.
